Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace & Conflict Resolution, Jamia Millia Islamia, under M.K. Gandhi Chair, is going to organize a two-day International Conference on “South Asia: Dynamics of Conflict and Paths to Peace” on November 8-9, 2012.
The Inaugural Session of the Conference is scheduled to be held on November 8, 2012 at 10 AM in Tagore Hall, Dayar-I Mir Taqi Mir, Jamia Millia Islamia.
Mr. Najeeb Jung, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia shall Chair the Inaugural Session and deliver the opening remarks on this occasion.
Welcome Address will be delivered by Prof. Tasneem Meenai, Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace & Conflict Resolution, Jamia Millia Islamia.
Prof. Sujit Dutta at M.K. Gandhi Chair will deliver the Conference Aims.
Mr. Ramesh Dadhich, Member-Secretary, Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi and Mr. P Chakravarty, Special Secretary, Public Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, will be the Guest of Honour in the Inaugural Session and will also address the audience.
The Conference spread across seven technical sessions will have the following sub-themes on which discussions will take place:
Day 1, November 8, 2012 (1130 hrs. – 1745hrs.)

2) State, Nation and Democracy
3) State of the Vulnerable
Day 2, November 9, 2012 (0930 hrs. – 1530 hrs.)
1) State Building Experience
2) Political Movements
3) India and the South Asian Regional Order
4) Research and Policy Agenda: Conflict and Peace in South Asia
The Panel Discussion is scheduled to be held from 1545 hrs – 1715 hrs. between S.D. Muni, Sumane Liyanage & T.V. Paul.
