V-C Prof. Talat Ahmad Inaugurates Two-day Annual Fest. ECOCRACY ’16

March 8, 2016: The Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia opened its annual fest, ECOCRACY’16 today. This two-day fest has invited participation for various academic activities. This is the seventh annual fest in the series which has consistently garnered huge popularity within and outside the university.

Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia inaugurated the festival today. Speaking at the event, Prof. Ahmad encouraged the participants to continually organize academic festivals to bring students together in the spirit of cooperation and mutual accommodation.
The fest provides a platform to students where they can showcase their talent and ability to go beyond routine academics with an opportunity to channelize their creativity in an intellectually stimulated environment for their all-round development.

Dr. Raj Singh, Vice-Chancellor, G. D Goenka University was the chief guest fort the event.

ECOCRACY is a kaleidoscope of various events like Mock Stock, Debate Competition, Talent Hunt, Walk for the Theme, Econombola, to name a few. Setting a new trend, the Department of Economics has taken an initiative to organize a rally to take up the cause of women empowerment. This two-day fest will witness coming together of innovation, creativity and talent bringing fresh synergy to the department and the students alike.

On this occasion, a rally was organized to mark the International Women’s Day in Jamia Millia Islamia to promote consciousness for women empowerment. Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor inaugurated the rally.
The programmes were held at Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium and Engineering Auditorium of Jamia Millia Islamia.
