MBA Student Faraaz Siddiqui Cast in an Award-Winning Short-Film ‘Humsafar’

Faraaz Siddiqui, an MBA Final Year student at Jamia, was recently cast in a short film titled, ‘Humsafar,’ which got screened at several film festivals, has more than 2 lakh views on Youtube, and just last month in August, it even got screened on TV twice, according to Faraaz.

Speaking about his fondness for acting, Faraz told Jamia Journal:

“Since school days, I am fond of acting, theater, etc. I have represented my Universities (earlier AMU and now JMI) in many District, Zonal, & National youth festivals. I have been awarded as “Best Director” in Aligarh Muslim University for my play “Ati Shree kinnar Katha” and it won many other prizes like best play, best supporting actor, etc. Apart from theater, I have done many short films as Asst. Director and Actor both. They won many prizes like best film, best script, best director, etc in different film festival.”

The film ‘Humsafar’ is described as: “There are times when love comes a full circle and soul mates reunite! ‘Humsafar’ is a journey around such a story! A film by Muhammad Aasim Qamar that strikes a chord with beating hearts and stitches together a resonating melody of love!”

According to Faraz, “Humsafar”  has won several awards and has been screened at many film festivals. It won the Second Best Film in Colors Film Festival, Gujarat; Best Cinematography in Filmsaaz. It has been screened in Ladakh Film Festival. Kerala Film Festival, and many more. The latest however, was the screening of the film on News Express, a national news channel in India.

The short film has also been appreciated by Tom Vam Avermaet, an Oscar nominated writer-director.

Avermaet called ‘Humsafar’ — a “Charming romantic short film.”

Faraaz calls this the “biggest achievement” of  his life and feels proud that he attained this achievement while a student of Jamia Millia Islamia.

“Humsafar” is divided into four parts titled: Propose, Romance, Dissolve and Reconcile.

Faraaz plays the lead-male role in the second part titled, “Romance.” It starts at the time-stamp 04:50 and ends at 07:28.
