Bombay Stock Exchange Officials Conduct Workshop on Financial Markets

The Department Of Commerce and Business Studies, in association with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), organised a workshop on “Empowering Investors Through education,” on Wednesday, September 11, 2013

The idea behind conducting the workshop was to create an awareness and understanding of financial markets among the students.

The presentation was given by Mr. Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager, BSE, Delhi Registered Office. Mr. Raghav Mittal, Marketing Exuecutive, BSE, Delhi Registered Office was also present in the workshop.

Mr. Sokhi said that BSE is Asia’s largest Stock Exchange. He explained to the students the very basic working and functioning of BSE. In his presentation he stated that everyone should have the know-how of financial markets. With his dynamic style of presentation he made the workshop interesting, and shared a frank and friendly rapport with the students. He answered many questions, such as Where to invest? Why to invest? How to invest? He clarified the role and the need of a stock exchange in a country.

“I am glad our department organised such an informative workshop, I had so many misconceptions regarding the Stock Exchange earlier, and it was an eye opener!” said Fabeha Amin Qureshi a final year postgraduate student in the department.

Dr. Kamal-un–Nabi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce and Business Studies, expressed his gratitude towards Mr. Sokhi for his time and effort. He acknowledged Mr. Sokhi for creating awareness of the Stock Exchange among students.

Prof. Altaf Khan, senior professor in the department appreciated the workshop. He said we are looking forward to organise such workshops in the department more often.
