Lecture on “The Rise and Fall of the Indian New Wave Cinema” on Feb. 1

The Department of Sociology, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize an Extension Lecture on “The Rise and Fall of the Indian New Wave Cinema” by Professor Rashmi Doraiswamy.

Professor Doraiswamy teaches at the MMAJ-Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. Her writings on literature and cinema have been published in prestigious Indian and foreign publications. She was the recipient of the National Award for the Best Film Critic in 1995. She has participated in national and international seminars on cultural issues and has served on several film festival juries in India and abroad. She has lectured extensively on cinema at film appreciation courses. She is co-editor of the book Being and Becoming: The Cinemas of Asia (Macmillan, 2002).

The programme is scheduled to be held on February 1, 2013 at 11 AM in the Seminar Room of Department of Sociology, Jamia Millia Islamia.
