Faculty of Dentistry Commemorates International Day for the Girl Child

(Following is a Jamia press release dated Sept 27, 2012) 

The Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia celebrated International Day of the Girl Child on September 24, 2012 by organizing various activities throughout the day.

On this occasion, a Dental Check-up and Treatment Camp for school girls was conducted and a Girl Child Awareness Booth to educate the patients about the various issues concerning the girl child was set up.

A poster and collage making competition was organized with the theme “Girls are Pearls” for the students of the faculty. A drawing and colouring activity was also conducted for the little children, who had come come for dental treatment to the faculty during the day.

Dr. Bulbul Dhar James, from Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women Studies delivered a talk on “The Right to Life of a Girl Child”.

The programmes organized on this occasion were attended by the students, faculty members and staff of the University with full zeal and enthusiasm.

  1. why only girl child. It should be for the poor and needy. I feel its amounting to discrimination. For medical facility one can not distinguish, girl or boy, hindu and muslim. i would be happy if i would see them coming forward a day for the poor to help them.
