AlgoRhythm 2012: F/o Engg. Celebrates Annual Techno-Cultural Festival

In an endeavor to provide students with an enjoyable and an interactive opportunity along with managerial experience, the Computer Society of India Student Chapter, Jamia Millia Islamia (CSI-JMI) held its three-day annual techo-cultural festival called “AlgoRhythm: The Rhythm of Techno Geeks” from March 2-4, 2012.

The festival was inaugurated by Mr. Shakil-uz-Zama Ansari, Member Secretary, National Commission for OBC.

The event was host to a performance by Deepak Saini, the comedian, who enthralled all with his comedy act.

CSI-JMI, on the occasion, also released its annual magazine called “Fiction,” featuring articles, essays, and reviews on a wide range of issues.

The festival was sponsored by brands like: Idea, Hero Honda, TCIL, NICT, Indian Bank, Career Launcher and Youth Incorporated, which, apart from being the magazine partner also provided gift coupons to the students.

The festival had a plethora of events lined up, 50 in all, for the odd 8000 visitors that thronged the grounds. It offered events of technical essence such as “ED Max,” “Eureka,” “Hello World,” “Java Pro,” “Tux Coder,” “Backtrack”; testing the participants in the skills of programming, paper presentation and engineering drawing.

Alongside it were, cultural events; for example, “Street Play,” “Crux,” “Gladiatorz,” “Nukkad Natak,” “Snap It,” “Tekken 3,” “Gali Cricket” among others.

An independent slot was allotted to the “Lounge Zone,” which included the events like Bulls Eye Darting, Carrom, Rangoli making, Graffiti, Face Painting, Pencil Sketching, Basketball, Sudoku, T-shirt painting etc.

The event, “Who Dares Wins,” was hosted by Radio Jockey, Rahul Makin, who also featured the students for a week, on his late-night show on 92.7 BIG FM, wherein participants were judged on courage and impromptu gumption.

The first day culminated with Shaam-e-Ghazal, performed by Mr. Zameer, while the second day was highlighted by “The Impulse Show,” featuring the talents of “Korrupt Ryderz.”

The final day saw a rock show, showcasing the vocal talents of Tauheed, headed by Dhruv Sufi.

AlgoRhythm 2012 proved to be a grand success for which the credit goes to the students who had tirelessly worked in organizing the festival.
