Member of Parliament, Jaswant Singh Speaks at Jamia

The MMAJ-Academy of International Studies, organized the third Dr. Saifuddin Kitchlew annual lecture on the topic “Engaging the World: India and the Challenges of Our Times” by Mr. Jaswant Singh, member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and a member of parliament, Lok Sabha, from the Darjeeling constituency. He has also served as the Union Finance and External Affairs Minister during the BJP led NDA government.

The event took place at the Edward Said Hall on Wednesday,  Feb. 22, 2012.

Mr. P.A. Sangma, Former Lok Sabha Speaker chaired the session. While Mr. S.M. Sajid, Pro Vice Chancellor, made the opening remarks on the occasion.

Mr. Singh started by posing the question: “What is the meaning of India?” and then spent most of his time answering that very question.

He expounded on the historical, social, geographical and political features of India.
