Department of Sociology Holds an Iftaar Party on Aug. 18

An Iftaar party was organized in the department of sociology on Thursday, August 18, 2011. The party was organized by the students of sociology. All the students and staff members from the department were invited to it.

There were a total of about 90 students and faculty in attendance. Dr. Neshat Quaiser, head of department, took a personal interest in the preparations.

Mashhood Alam, a IInd-year student in the department said, all students who intended to come contributed money and all the arrangements were done in a collective effort.

Iftaar started at 7:00 p.m. as per the time for Maghrib prayer.

The Iftaar food included Fruit chaat, Pakoras, Fruit juice, and Dates.

After the Iftaar, the Muslim students read the Namaaz. Then after the Namaaz, preparations for dinner were made. The dinner was lavishly laid, and thoroughly enjoyed by all the students.
The dinner included non-vegetarian and vegetarian items. Some of the items on the menu were: Chicken biryani , Veg biryani and Shaahi paneer.

Nahid, a Ist-year student said, “It was really great and we all had heck lot of fun. Thank you everyone for making it so memorable.”
